The Troubled Realities of Change

Change comes to us in all shapes and forms. Life would not be livable if there wasn’t a constant moving. Progression dictates transition and transition often times is accompanied by fear. Why does change make us afraid? Could it be that we are happiest when we know that we can control life’s circumstances?
I must admit that my first reaction to any type of metamorphosis is anxiety. Sometimes my stomach turns into knots at the reality of transition. It really doesn’t matter if it is good or bad, change just makes me shake for a few minutes.
Yet, God in His amazing way, brings peace to my troubled waters as I meditate on His word. Take a look at the beauty of the beginning of Psalm 46:
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
I can rest assured knowing that my God is above all of the things around me that shake. He brings peace when peace seems to be far off. He is sure and He is consistent. Let us all place our HOPE in the Lord knowing that He will carry us as we face the realities of change.
